We've talking about this before, and it's still going on. Both newcomers and oldtimers alike are quoting entire long posts and then making a simple
reply far too often.
When quoting a post, edit it down to the importat pieces necessary to make your point.
If this continues, the quote button may disappear.

I like the quote function my self, and I would really like if people would use it properly. It's annoying as hell when someone quotes HUGE post for
no particular reason, or just because he have something to say about 2 or 3 lines of that same post.
Did you get it people? OBEY!!!
Lol@Darklanser
Nice choice of pic.

I had to suppress the urge to quote this entire thread and post a one word response. (Agreed!)
But I did not. I hate reading everything again.
The thing that confuses me is quoting an entire post, and answering inside the quote, yeck. But that is just me.

NO one forces you to jointhis message board, no one forces you to stay on this message board.
If you don't like the rules, find another forum

Quoting entire posts is annoying, spammy, disruptive and unneccessary. Simple solution to avoid the gestapo is not to do it
Otherwise its a trial by the Oracle followed by a firing squad.

Gestapo huh?
Gestapo
n : the secret state police in Nazi Germany; known for its terrorist methods [syn: Gestapo]

I take a exceptionally deep offense to being called this. Are you having fun? Did you get your little kicks taking an offensive dig at someone who
devotes a portion of every day making sure you can come here and post for free?

Generally it seems to be Newbies and computer-illiterates (aka "Lamers") that do this sort of thing -
I equate it to the mentally-deficient folks who finally get an email account and forward all these sickening sweet inspirational stories and/or bogus
virus warning that they come across -
Off with their heads I say!!!

UHHGG!! STAB!!! OWW!! OHHH!!!
enough...enough! The Overlordship and his mindless syncophant 'supermoderators' win. I can take no more U2U's, emails and retribution posts. No
more arm twisting, name calling and personal slanders...please.
Don't send me away from the playground...don't tell me to love ATS or leave. And for Christ's sake don't pull out the DICTIONARY on me! :0
Gestapo techniques....what was I thinking
still absolutely free
EDIT: There was no need to quote all that.

We shouldn't even need a rule for that, people should just use common sense.
Sadly, we need rules...

Voice...I'm not berating you or anyone else but I ask a few things:
* Did you not agree to the 'Terms and Conditions" of this board when you first signed on as a member of ATS?
* Did you understand that those "Terms and Conditions" are just that: guidlines and 'rules' for being allowed to function on this board?
Again, this was not intended to offend...only to point out that in life, there are "rules" and their is no avoidance of them. One can 'deny' them
but that does not remove them from being applied to you or anyone else.

Yes,
Especially those quotes in which people quote somebodys orginal text multiple times..
And their own comments, bolds and underlines to them..
are really annoying/confusing..
