Jim Gray and his sailboat disappeared off the coast of CA last Sunday when he left on a 25mi cruise to scatter his mother's ashes at sea. The weather was unusually calm and no trace of either him or his vessle was found. Jim was behind the database work that led to the development of ATM's, computer mapping services and online shopping, to name just a few.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Lt. Amy Marrs called Gray's disappearance a mystery because the weather was good, he was in good health and the boat was equipped with radios, flares and an emergency beacon.

The Coast Guard has called off the search. No trace??

Quite interesting.
Looks like he may have been a key player in the ongoing creation of 'the beast'.
Perhaps he disappeared because he wanted to discontinue his participation? Maybe he 'escaped'?
Or perhaps he was ambushed and wisked away to some unknown location where he will be forced to continue his work?
I guess it is logical to think that it was a simple accident, but
maybe UFOs took him so he could set up an online shopping network for them?

What are your thoughts?

Hard to say. As the article points out the Coast Guard scoured a 40,000sqmi area. Given the calm conditions they have a solid idea as to how far he could have sailed (or drifted) since Sunday and they searched WELL outside that area. He had all the necessary distress equipment. It's just SO rare for a vessle to go down in calm seas without leaving SOME trace: oil, debris, something...

I can see how HE could disappear but the whole boat?
