a nice find, for sure, the question is whether a similar gene silencing enzyme can be found for other species, or if the effect could be replicated by other means (actively neutralising expressed proteins?).


would be nice if this was a permanent cure, though, they weren't too specific about long term effects, so if these prions remained supressed, you'd have effectively invented another AIDS; an ilness which eventually kills, but only a few years and 200k later.
