You go in for trail mix, and some household cleaners.
You come out 500 dollars later, with a new printer, and an MP3 player.
Neither of which you REALLY needed..
I am a costco member..But sometimes I avoid the place for those very reasons.

I'm normally a "list man". That is, I go into a store with the list. And come out with ONLY the items on the list.

NOT SO, with Costco..
With Costco, resistance is FUTILE!

Here is also a new york times article...It's real folks..a psychological condition.
I wonder if they sell medication for it? At costco, in big buckets?

The Costco effect

This thread was inspired by a u2u conversation between Loam, and myself.

When your number is called, you can't take it with you. So what the hell. I don't have a Costco in my home town, but I've been to several when I lived in Alberta. It was a different experience. Really couldn't figure out that they wouldn't let me in the store unless I had a membership.

But I'll compare Wal-Mart for the same of discussion. I'll head to Wal-Mart to pick up.. oh let us say kitty litter. In the matter of ten minutes I'll manage to drop quite the chunk of change on the latest DVD's and probably forget the kitty litter until I am in the check out.

A few weeks ago I went in to pick up something that I can not recollect, but I walked out with a 2gb Ipod Nano. The purchase feeds the high, and it is followed by a low where I'm thinking, "Damn!" But ultimately I would of wasted it on something else so I am glad I bought something that I can make use of.

Spend it while you got it.

THAT is the most brilliant thread title I have seen in a very long time!!!

I too must shamefully admit that I am hopelessly under the "Costco Effect".

Do you think tin foil on the head would work??????

If I don't find a solution soon, I'm gonna need to buy a bigger house!

Tin foil might just work..

I have a couple of cases in the garage if you need to borrow some. LOL

I didn't actually come up with the term though..I think Costco did.
I was going to call it the Costco syndrome.
