let me tell you something modern world politics and power. A country without a potent military force is like a knife without a blade.... absolutely useless. In order for a nations policies and opinions to have any gravity in the international arena, they have to have the respect of the rest of the world. Sure, not everyone in the world loves the US, but they sure as hell respect them as a formidable enemy, due to what? Military power. Same thing with N. Korea, India, Pakistan, etc. They may not be loved by all, but other nations (remember, I'm saying NATIONS not the citizens of those nations, cuz there's a difference) will for damn sure acredit them with respect, know why? Because they're big players on the international scene due to their military force.

Why do you think no one gives a damn about Switzerland? Cuz the country is good for nothing except keepin peoples money!!

Germany on the other hand has the potential to be a bigger player on the international scene, but it's being repressed by political agendas within.

The US is the Greatest nation on earth.

If a nation was shunned for "taking over peoples land" the we would always be tribes, and never progress past cave-men.

To grow as humans, we need to conquer different peoples, and make them one...Rome did this, and because of it it allowed a form of government to be developed that shook the world.

England did this, and because of this, England's tollerance prevailed over many lands, this is evident in the differences of such nations as Qatar, versus, Saudia Arabia.

America conquered devided native american tribes, so that now they all recognize together their heritage, and what they would have been, a people $hitting in bushes, believing that gods would travel to the moon and back.

Are now a people who witnessed mankind go to the moon, and even helped partake in making the endeavour possible.

Because Men are killed, their cultures broken, walls fall and allow future generations to share a real peace, rather than constantly fighting tribe and tribe.

However, history has shown us how these "great nations" eventually throw things off balance. The Roman and British empires eventually faltered, as will this one. Why? Because balance has been forsaken.

Some day, a truly great empire will emerge that has learned from history and embraces a balanced philosophy.

Take for example the Incas, the most efficient, tollerant, and strongest Empire to ever exist, they conquered cultures around them, and assimilated them into their own.

Alright, so many empires have fallen, and you predict the United States will fall soon. So why is it so wrong that we look out for our best interests? We, just like everyone else have our own interests in mind. One of our most basic instincts is survival. Right now, the United States is trying to survive, and the only way to do that is to do what is in OUR best interest.

If it wasnt for the glorious white man, civilization would have never come...how the indians and slaves should be thankful because slavery and genocide brought them together...how non-whites would still be #ting in the bushes if not for being conquered...and so on and so on.

I hear this argument from white supremists all the time, and what they neglect to tell you is that Egypt which is in Africa was the greatest nation of the earth in recorded history. It was ruled first by whomever ruled it, then ruled by egyptians, then ruled by nubians who were Black. There were NO actual white pharaohs (you had those who were given the title, but never shown the actual process) but the greeks did sit on the throne for a while. The greeks actually went to learn in egypt-at alexandria, which was world famous. Then the romans came in and brought with them christianity and blindness, destroying the knowledge of countless ages and ushering in the dark age.

I assume then you are saying the christian crusades to kill all non believers who did not convert were a good thing because it brought the islamic world together? You try telling the irish how great the english were when they took over...see if they agree. See if the IRA agrees with your assesment. I think they might have a difference of opinion actually living there instead of reading about it.

There are still people in areas of the world who do not even know what a watch is or what a lighter is but they dont sit around wanting some white people to come in and kill off their tribes and assimilate them- and they sure as hell don't want to be converted to any religion.

The white man's fantasy has always been that they were bringing civilization and salvation to the savages of the world. None of those people wanted what you were selling in the first place, get over yourselves. When the crusades ended in the defeat of the white man and christianity, it hurt them and they have tried since that day to reclaim victory, but have never been successful, as islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and christianity the most declining.

All you have to do is look at iraq right now. You already have ridiculous christians trying to send people over there in the guise of relief workers when their real aim is to convert and destroy arab society. There has been not ONE culture that christianity has been forced on that it did not destroy. And the height of the ridiculous is when christians , stealing the religion of the jews and modifying it to suit their needs, start to say that jews need to come to jesus to be saved. The main problem with the US in my humble opinion is that they still have the white-man's burden mentality of colonialist europe even though the scramble for africa is long dead. Sure, all nations have done #ty things, but they've learned. The US is so arrogant it can't value any system aside from its own. Well, Bluegrl, you have obviously brought out some very dark facts about the US. I don't think anyone can deny we've sure pulled our share of unjust actions. Its just a question of how you want to look at it today. If you can realize that each generation has efforted to right these wrongs and make just the injustice, and along the way made mistakes themselves, then you might be able to gain an optimistic outlook. Its easy to look to the past after having access to the following results and second guess things. We can all look toward the future and we can all make our best guesses on the right and wrong moves but we will never know until its been played out. If you, however can't seem to release yourself from second guessing the past and merely use it as an example of both good and bad things this country has done, then maybe the best thing for you is not living here and if you find it hard to view America or any other country, for that matter, for its horrid mistakes in the past without acknowlodging its progress then I would have to support you in not being a part of it.
