12 year old boy begins process for sex change at the expense of the taxpayers.

I dont know if this is a social issue / socialist issue / or simply a tax issue.

Either way it just aint right.

According to the article he/she can't get the male genitalia removed until the age of 18.

Anyway, I'm very concerned about allowing a child to make such a grave decision.

In the article it says he enjoyed playing with dolls and wearing dresses when he was young. He will never be interested into boy things, so his choice was right. And it's a good thing he's accepted in class now but it won't stay like that forever (high school).

So I say let him have a full operation, in order for him to not be hated when he gets older.

Wildcat, I completely agree with you. I would also add that (s)he wouldn't be able to like him/her self unless they had the surgery done.

Now I’m all for a socialist health care system, a system that says that if your injured that you don’t have to worry about insurance or how to pay for treatment, but sex changes are a different matter.
Don’t get me wrong I feel bad for people that feel that they were born the wrong sex, its just that I would rather my money go towards people in serious and critical need. If someone needs a hart transplant or a broken bone mended these are immediate needs that if not taken care of will lead to more serious consequences.
Sex changes are like breast augmentations or nose jobs for people that are really unhappy with their looks, I feel bad for some of them, but it is not critical and tax dollars should not be put towards problems such as these.

David Reimer (August 22, 1965 – May 5, 2004) was a Canadian man who was born as a healthy boy, but was sexually reassigned and raised as female in an attempt to improve his life after his penis was inadvertently destroyed during circumcision. During Reimer's preadolescent childhood, psychologist John Money reported the reassignment as successful and as evidence that gender identity is primarily learned, but Reimer assumed a male gender role at 15. He later went public with his story to discourage similar medical practices. He committed suicide at the age of 38.

This to me is just not right. Being the child is only 12 it sorta reminds me of the World-famous Johns Hopkins disaster with psychologist Dr. John Money research he did on two boy twins back in the 60's/70's. A recent documentary has proven this to be a complete disaster. My point is age! He is to young. The outcome is shown above.

David Reimer: The boy who was raised as a girl

The full length documentary was very interesting. I could not find the full documentary on Google/Youtube, but there is a short version.

okay. button up your shirt guys, 'cause your hearts are falling out. say what you want about this being the right thing and all, but you're not gonna be the guy who gets duped into sleeping with this thing on a drunk night. makes me think twice about some of the pigs i've been with. i say this person if gonna have so many problems it doesn't even matter what they do.

Well as a German taxpayer hers what i have to say: If it needs to be done from amedical point of view then so be it

That is the good thing about our health system, it is based on Solidarität (which means we all stick togeather looking out for everyone including those not paying into the health system).

If i had some seroius health problems and know i can get teatment without having to pay some huge bill.

How much does it cost to have a child in the US?

Well they are researching ways to change one's chromosomes to those of the opposite sex. So if this kid were to wait, then he can be 100% female, or he could just do that later.
