Forty-nine birds died under mysterious circumstances over the past ten days on roofs, yards and streets in Ho Chi Minh City, but tests proved the birds were H5N1 negative.

Authorities suspect the birds were bought and freed by Buddhist disciples following the common Buddhist practice of freeing living creatures from bondage, but as yet no pagodas have come forward to admit to freeing the birds.

Probably just another case of mass birds dying for no reason at all? There is no exact information on how many similar incidents happened in other places. What we can probably do is to gather news which is similar to the incident. The fact that the current incident in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam excluded bird flu as the cause is a little comforting. Or could it be possible that the virus has already mutated in a different form?
