I absolutely agree, which is why I am confused when Greer pronounces that earth's leadership wants us to get into a battle with aliens to hasten the apocalypse.

Um... if there are aliens... and you want to fight a war with them... doesn't that imply that maybe your religion isn't exactly the be-all-and-end-all? What right-thinking person would believe this?

I am forced to believe that Greer is making this assumption based on his belief that our leadership in the Western world is not making the same political choices he would. That's fine, and that's his opinion to have, but it does not necessitate him concluding that they are guided by an irrational agenda. There is frankly no evidence to support such a conclusion, merely speculation and tenuous ties.

Actually there are many theories that I've heard regarding some ET's, primarily the Grays, that they destroyed the surface of their planet and evolved millenia underground and now they're here cutting up cows and splicing human genes so they can continue their lineage. Supposedly they can no longer process sunlight properly and because of this they cannot reproduce except by artificial means.

I find it hard to believe that benevolent aliens would make any sustained contact with us at this point in time.

The only aliens that would, would be ones wanting to use/exploit us.

We are too fractured and warlike as a species to be trusted at this early point in our evolution.

I heard (i think it may have been in the alien interview tape), that the aliens teaching us anything significant at this time, is like trying to explain nuclear physics to a dog. We are just not advanced enough to even understand/utilise what they know. That sounds fairly close to what I think also.

For those that think we are 'good' and 'trustworthy', take a look at world events, as a whole, from outside your point of view, and see just how separated and petty we are as a species.

Many think we are advanced enough to survive in the 'greater universe'. I think we are like the 5yr old who thinks he can survive in our world on his own.

We have a long way to go/evolve in the scheme of things (physically and mentally), and none of our major governments (or minor for that matter) can be trusted with this kind of 'step'.

I honestly believe a lot of people may have experienced something, but the majority is just bull. People want excitement in their lives because life itself is redundant and old. The same thing happens everyday to them and it is nice sometimes to think that something strange could happen.

The "aliens" do have very advanced technology, certainly, but what Werner Von Braun told her was that WE ALREADY HAVE all the technology to solve all the major problems of the world (the looming energy crisis, pollution, global warming, poverty) - but they are tied up in unacknowledged black projects.

I further find it self-deprecating that it is somehow assumed that ETs are more enlightened and therefore socialism or some other socioeconomic system naturally comes to them. First, why assume that they are enlightened? We discovered the nuclear bomb in the 1940's. Would you say that just because we discovered that technology that we are enlightened? You cannot assume that technological superiority implies moral superiority.

The thing is, as technology progresses, eventually it becomes possible to develop technology that can destroy entire planets, or maybe even attack a star somehow and wipe out entire solar systems.

So eventually a civilization must voluntarily abandon the ways of warfare, or else they inevitably end up destroying themselves - and maybe some of their neighbors too!

There is a belief that just because ETs come from the sky, they must necessarily be angels.

3. In order to enter "galactic trade" you must have a planetary currency. This currency must be backed by something.(gold standard, for example)

4. You must develop interplanetary travel on your own. We will help you with interstellar once you "get your feet wet".(in the book the author explained that due to a mistranslation, the space race was so important because both Russia and America both thought that once they made it to the moon, ET would open trade with them.)

I agree with some of the points made here but STRONGLY disagree with number 3. I highly doubt any advanced civilization would use any form of money. Money is truly the root of all evil. Greed for money is the top reason why we have war.

I would guess any alien civilzation would not even have a word for money and the concept would be "alien"

I have read theory that the greys are in actuality lost from their home planet and have accidentally destroyed any chance of return ..They are slowly failing physically, and are desparate to find DNA that they can splice into their own genetic pool to rejuvinate their species.
They are both inimical to us and also our allies against themselves , having split into opposing factions when some of them became allied with another race who are vastly older and able to help the greys continue their species without splicing of human genes..
Whatever is really going down, we little people will be the absolute last to find out as far as our leaders are concerned.It behooves us to try to find out as much about the situation as possible because it has gone beyond the stage of having to prove the existance of ufos..
