is this really what we want for this site? What about those who are below 18 who frequent here?

I'm not adverse to a bit of quality porn myself, but there is a time and a place...

Is there anyway of removing said posts from that board and/or prevent them from reapearing?

I saw that one coming when I read our Overlord's post about video links.

I guess a post to complaints will get fast action from a Mod, but people will take advantage of every loop-hole on the web. :shk:

This is not an Adult site, nor somewhere were you can freely post Adult material. Call me a "whiner" if you like, but I know there are youngsters on this site and there could be ramifications if people (read Parents) see their youngsters getting Free porn off ATS.....

An what the hell is an alcholocis? Sounds like some sort of insect....

If your going to call me names, learn to spell.

(Incidentally, I googled the word "alcholocis" and it seems that alot of people cannot spell a simple word....)

Alcoholics, I think is the word your looking for....

Indeed... I am not fond of the anon thing anyway, but to use it to spread porn, which in turn could damge my favourite site on the web, I can't stand for.

I thought I would use a thread to guage other's opinions before going running to the mods...

There are more than enough sites for that sort of material out there -
ATS should not play host to that market.

I second the motion to preserve the integrity of this site.

The staff have the capability to remove spam from the anonymous board.

We do check it for spam as often as possible, but humans are humans

Typically none of that garbage lasts longer than 15-20 minutes, but sometimes particularly at very late hours it's a bit harder.

Unfortunately that is a consequence of having no registration required but steps are always being put into place by SO to make it more difficult for spammers to annoy us with their garbage.

Hope that helps!

how would you like it if , when you click on your favourite erotic art website - there is page after page of essays about 9/11 , aliens , government corruption , milirary technologies , etc etc instead of what you wanted ???

specialisation : its for websites too , not just insects

i am 101% behind STURMASON here - ATS is the best conspiracy site out there - and i want it porn free

if the " net nanny " idiots find porn links on a domain - they add it to the banned list - and once a domain has been labled - its chuffing hard to get it removed again

Is there any way that "Members In Good Standing" would be able to redirect a post to the Mods for review if we felt it was inappropriate ???

Perhaps a button for members with a proven track record that they could click and the post would be flagged for the mods to review before it's put back up on the boards ???

This sounds like a good idea except now we start a new category of membership...."deputy mods" or "moderator assistants"? Still, in many respects, this IS a good idea. Of course, as it stands, there are many of us who simply U2U the thread moderators when we spot something that we might consider "questionable".

Thanks mods for getting rid of the porn links in the Anon Forum when you can

I see your point, but it's already happened.
By allowing non-members to post we now have a new category of membership.

In many respects I think it's important for all members of ATS to police the boards by hitting the complain button when we see a violation of the T&C.
The Mods can't be everywhere, and the members have some responsibility to maintain the integrity of this community.

We have a good thing going here, I'd hate to see it spoiled by the influx of links to porn.

I'm not sure I understand your reply.

But I bow before your superior intellect.

Anyone can find pornography on the internet, it was the driving force behind its inception. The money from porn financed many of the developments in what we now see as the World Wide Web.

But there is a time and place for everything.
ATS is not the place for porn, it's a place for discussion. A forum for the exchange of ideas and information. A place for people to meet and share thoughts and ideas in a civilized manner.

If you want to go solo you're free to search for "Betty's Big Boobs", but I don't want to see links to that on these forums.

Anyone of any age should be able to search the information compiled by our membership without being confronted with pornography.

stumason is right, this is not an adult site. And pornography has no buisness here.

I am sure the Mods will do their typical excelent job at finding and removing said links as soon as they can discover them.

If I wanted to look at porn I have those links. But this site isnt for that kind of thing.

I agree with the removal of the porn links, but am equally annoyed with some abusive posts that people are starting to post through the anon facility.

What real purpose does the anon facility provide?

I second General Eyes, If we allow this stuff to go on we will eventually have to contend with pr0n links in our sigs and popups just like every other site.

Anyway why would people come to ATS for pr0n when there are top quality sites everywhere
