Iran has announced plans to test short range missiles in a military maneuver about 62 miles southeast of Tehran, the announcement comes days after the United States said it would deploy a second aircraft carrier to the troubled gulf.
Adamant not to budge under pressure, Iran on Sunday announced new short-range missile tests, and hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissed criticism that new U.N. Security Council sanctions were hurting the economy.

The missile tests come days after the United States said it would deploy a second aircraft carrier to the volatile Gulf, the USS John C. Stennis. U.S. military officials have said the carrier, which is set to arrive in Mideast waters in a matter of weeks, was meant as a plain warning to Iran.

The deployment appeared to alarm some in Iran's hard-line leadership, including a member of a powerful cleric-run body who last week warned that Washington plans to attack Iran in the coming months, possibly by striking its nuclear facilities.

It would appear that lines are being drawn for a military confrontation between Iran and the United States, a war which neither sides population of people want, but seems to be two forms of government set to clash over nuclear capability.

No one, besides our government, wants a war with Iran. Iran's people dont want a war and the american people dont want another war. Someone posted a rather informative video which stressed that Iran HAS complied with international law, until recently, regarding their nuclear energy program.

Bush needs to stop being so damn gung-ho and talk this out like men. I am sure we can come to some sort of agreement like, Iran keeps its nuclear program in exchange for IAEA inspections and guarantees not to develop offensive weapons with it.

Iran is emerging as a regional power and I think it would be in the US's best interest to find some common ground with them.
