there's very little oil that can be produced, it must be constantly explored for new reserves, same with Gold. There's very little gold being produced ... more must be explored.

But there's more Oil than Gold and we've extracted huge amounts of Gold over the many thousands of years.

That is to illustrate that there's a peak but it's VERY far off, what there is now is a peak of production - more exploration will solve it.
