Are you unaware that he made available for FREE download any and all of his videos? No one had to pay for a thing. Plus, there are some serious questions as to the validity of the case. It wasn't him not paying taxes, it was taxes unreported by some employees, which is an entirely different thing.

no we are aware of it, we also know he and his organisation has filled many many false DMCA claims for copyright infringment for his videos too which are not only free but uncopywritten (well some are the $99 box sets are a right bargain and not free and are copywritten
)

were not saying he made money from his FREE videos (although he did ironically enough), thats how he found his audience of scientific illiterates to sell his bs in lectures and accessories and dont forget all his dino world profits that he been pretending was a church not a theme park

$5 for a little wall guide to tell you how long adam lived and flip charts and other junk it all adds up quite nicely when he is getting a minimum of $2000 per lecture and he does 3-400 a year(well did till he got locked up now his sons do), not to mention all those donations then all the sales of the rest of his dvd's which arnt free to download and dont forget the extensivce book selections etc etc etc

merchandise merchandise merchandise!!!! and make sure it over priced!!! its disney land with god and dino's

so if he wasnt selling anything to anyone how did he get over 10 million dollars worth of realestate and bank balance since 1989, and this was after he studied (
) or his Phd and taught 15 years of (
) science in school and well teachers just arnt that highly paid anyway

from information that made it into the puiblic sector he cleared AT LEAST $680,000 in 2002 without including the many direct donations (such as the suggest $10 for his FREE dvd' if you pick one up at his seminars) so your looking at least 700,000 dollar clear net profit per year and this is a VERY conservative estimate

Plus, there are some serious questions as to the validity of the case. It wasn't him not paying taxes,
yes it was

have you even looked at the actual charges?

it was taxes unreported by some employees, which is an entirely different thing.
umm no becasue that would make them responsible not good ole Dr.Dino

i guess you didnt look at the charges then if your saying its his employees but first some history of kent and the IRS

you probabily dont know he was also done for tax evasion back in 96 (period 89-95) when he attempted to falsely declare bankruptcy to get away with his loot, and that was just for an IRS estimate of $10,000 a year and a look at his books to find the correct figure, as he hadnt filled tax returns for 6 years stating he worked for god had no property no debts no overheads and made no money

strange the IRS managed to impound a 1989 GMC van, 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis and a 1984 Honda all registered in his name if he didnt own a thing...

and then in 2006 for the period 95-97 he was AGAIN done for tax fraud this time they had a realistic idea of his earning and he owed $504,957.24

so now on to the most recent

ye it did involve his employee's but was not becasue of them or somthing they did, its again becasue he wasnt paying taxess he should have

12 counts of not paying federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes for his employees which HE was legally obligated to do as the employer, then claimin he didnt have to pay as they were volunteers and ministers of his supposed church ministry that isnt

then there were a whole pile(45 within a year) of them (hovind and wife) making dubious cash withdrawls from the *cough* ministry account but that money then disappearing almost as if kent and wife had kept it for them selves as cash amounts to avoid bank records .... which i why all payments were under $10,000 and numerous withdrawls were made one right after the other so large amounts were withdrawn as cash but none were above the level the bank have to report it

and 1 charge of filling false law suits, making false claims for compensation and various other misdeeds done in the name of keeping all that money his

In count 58 against Kent includes filing a frivolous lawsuit against the IRS, demanding damages for criminal trespass, filing an injunction against an IRS agent, making threats against investigators and those cooperating with the investigation, and filing false complaints against the IRS for false arrest, excessive use of force and theft.

theres nothing quetionable about the charges, the only uestiuonable thing is why didnt he learn his lesson the other 2 times?

My personal view is that Hovind is probably the worst thing to happen to the "creation science movement". He just went way too far. The problem with him is that he is a YEC AND he believes the Bible is the Word of God. And of course the conspiracy crap. Bear in mind that I'm not saying the conspiracies are crap, I just believe he should have left it alone to give himself more credibility.

I was just watching a video on youtube as I had never heard of this guy....and enjoying it when I thought I would see if he was mentioned on here... low and behold I find all this. Wow....

I have a couple of questions: Some of his points seem quite valid (for instance the mention of the law conservation of angular momentum, or the bit about the tongue on a wood pecker..), what do people make of this?

Also, to add the conspiracy side to things: Could it be he was put away for 10 years because people did not like what he was saying (i.e. an element of truth in it)...?

Just some thoughts...

Which part of the law on the conservation of angular momentum? If you're talking about where he says all the planets should be spinning the same way, he's wrong. All the law of conservation of angular momentum states is that the total angular momentum in a system will remain the same in a frictionless environment. When looking at the solar system, you see it works out.

As for the conspiracy side, when you don't report several million in earnings to the IRS, it doesn't matter if you're a preacher, rapper, actor, etc, they'll come knocking.

Thanks - it was that law I was referring to, not one I had heard about nor looked at.

I can understand avoiding tax = bad. I just thought the sentence was OTT? Are there many others in the states that have had a similar fate for a similar occurrence? I am not familiar over here in blighty.

He was guilty of federal tax evasion. Ironically, Florida (State where he and I both reside) has no state income tax. The maximum sentence could have been 200+ years, so if the government really wanted to shut him up they could of put him behind bars de facto for life.

The thing that has really killed him is the feds may soon end up taking all of his property including his "Theme Park" as collateral for the back taxes.

He preached that dinosaurs and humans lived side-by-side. Any "element of truth" he might have come up with would probably be limited to give the correct time when someone asked for it.

Has anyone here seen a Hovind video? Or are you all just bashing Him, because you enjoy being force fed what schools and the media spoon feed... Evolution is a joke. It is all part of brainwashing the country so that the new world order can move in. There are petrified trees standing up that go "millions of years of layers of rock." There are acient relics of paintings of people riding and fighting dinosaurs. There is evidence that there are still dinosaurs in Africa. Where is the evidence of evolution. The reason it is impossible to win the $250K contest to prove evolution, is that it does not exist. If humans evolved from monkeys, there would not be monkeys. We would still be evolving.

Dr. Hovind opened my eyes to many new fields of research and the notion that even scientists can have a hidden agenda (as outlined in the "protocols of the synagogue of Satan" a hundred years ago). And I have encountered two persons so far who were undeniably possessed by something beyond their own intellect. The best evidences for the biblical account, or at least for Creation, is the butterfly lifecycle, DNA and the ancient giant creatures that could not live on earth today.

In my eyes, he is a genuine hero of great magnitude. Not perfect, not divine, not special. But his tenacity and honesty is astounding. I value AiG as well, but I'm highly critical of some of their material, especially articles written by certain writers who I don't trust as of yet.

Have you fathomed how many fellow inmates who have now converted to Christianity? His imprisonment was a blessing in disguise. The joke is on you.

And I cannot believe that you favor the ruling of a FEMALE judge to the common sense that I hope you possess underneath that layer of persona. Many of the judicial partakers in this charade had names of modern Jews, which should put up red flags. What, Jews persecuting Christians? *shock* No, that can't be....

So, a blessing in disquise, yes. But also a chastening. Because, no doubt, he must have lied a number of times to escape the claws of the gestapo IRS. And just as God allowed WTC (where Mammon was worshipped and probably great economic crimes were committed daily) to be brought down, so did he allow Hovind to be brought down and chastened for his transgressions. You see, non-Christians are not chastened because they are not children of God. They are free to do what they want until they die and perish forever. Christians have eternal life and when we commit wrongs we are chastened. I think Jews in prominent positions have a common agenda: They distribute and promote things that will cause us to sin (such as pornography, socialist governments, homosexuality, all kinds of material allure and temptations) because they KNOW that when a person sins and turns his face away from God, then God will turn his face from that person and allow the world to attack him with full power.

Yeah, I do digress at times.

Are you saying that there is a difference between the ruling of a female judge and a male judge?

Why?
Evolution doesnt say the original species must die off when another species branches off it.

He's saying women don't have common sense. This does not bother me because if he believes in Hovind he believes dinosaurs co-existed with humans so his views on women are no doubt also seeded in the same sort of medi evil ignorance and he has zero credibilty.

Its one thing to be glad someone got their just punishment for bailing on their tax obligations. Another to carry on like the guy who is butt hurt at any and all religious people because they got shot down by the good looking Baptist girl in high school. I suppose there is a thread like this somewhere for you guys to rant about Wesley Snipes?
