Barack Obama, the junior US Senator from Illinois and possible Democratic candidate for president, has not been forthcoming about his Muslim past,
according to Insight magazine. The magazine cites sources within the camp of Hillary Clinton. A madrassa is an Islamic religious school. Some of these
schools have been accused of fostering anti-western sentiment in recent years.

Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim
heritage?
This is the question Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.
An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his
stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a
so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia.
Please visit the link provided for the complete story.
Obama is the early and clear challenger to Clinton's bid for the presidency. This is an attempt by the Clinton camp to tie Obama to madrassas, and by
association, terrorism. This will prove to be a very messy campaign, it seems.

Already damn..let the games begin. How can she use this when we already know all the scandal her husband pulled? This will only diffuse her
campaign. And especially as a woman some crazies out there may assassinate her and Obama. Better be careful...

Nice to see Ms. Clinton's hypocricy is in full campaign mode already...not. So much for not pulling out the fear card. Wish I could say I was
surprised.
They'll dig, and dig, and dig, until they find something. Or until they have to make it up.
Not a big Mr. Obama fan, but even less of a Ms. Clinton fan. I sincerely, and with malice aforethought, hope this turns on her.

The problem is, the Clintons seem to be immune to ramifications from their past. Hillary is seen as a victim of Bill's peccadilloes, and as for Bill,
the sincere lower-lip bite gets 'em every time.

And when the dust clears in November, 2008 the next president will be a Republican.
How could that be possible?
The democrat's primary campaign will be terribly vicious and leave no man (or woman) standing with enough strength or money left over to take on
whomever the Republican is.
And if this Obama - madrassa thing is true and it can be made to look like Obama (what an unfortunate name!) was trying to hide that fact, he might as
well just quit the race now.

I don't think he was hiding it, as much as he probably thought it wasn't an issue of great importance...seriously, how many of us care what school
anyone went to when they were ten years old?
Mountains out of molehills. But never underestimate the Clinton machines ability to read and influence the public.

One of the Republicans should. Unfortunately, they probably won't. The possibility of using this against Mr. Obama, should he win the nomination,
will be too great.
God, we need a third party alternative so very badly.

If her campaign is going to be a smear campaign, she's not choosing wisely.
I hate when politicians use these tactics, everybody's beliefs, morals, and personalities change as they mature. Politicians should be judged on
their accomplishments, their goals, and their vision on the way they think the government can be changed/run for the better of the whole country.
How does that saying go about casting stones again?

Hillary must REALLY feel threatened by Obama. As well she should.
Madrassa means school in Arabic, whether it's secular or Muslim.
My response to this issue is here:

Yep. He went to school. I agree that's a good thing... .
Ms. Clinton, and/or her people, must really be worried. This could get real dirty, real fast.
Hopefully, Mr. Obama won't try to match the Clinton machine tit for tat, he'll lose. No one plays the dirty tricks game with quite the skill and
enthusiasm as the Clintons.

Oh come on. You're living on hope now.
First there's his name which sounds so much like "Osama" that good old dem Ted Kennedy even called him "Osama" in the Senate. Tell me millions
of Americans aren't going to even sub-consciously make that connection, too.
Then in the news, we've all been hearing for quite awhile that madrassa = school for radical muslims. Millions of Americans will also make
that conscious or sub-conscious connection.
Hillary is both clever and vicious. If any of this is true, Obama is a walking dead man as far as his candidacy is concerned. Which is kind of
unfortunate from my point of view, since I was hoping for a slugfest in the democratic primary campaign.

Yes, and one for the ages.
Let's think about this.
Obama, looks good, speaks well, lots of people like him.
But he's risen up, virtually out of nowhere - in a very short period of time.
Now the muslim madrassa issue ...
Do I dare say it?
Could Obama actually be?
a Manchurian candidate
The movies made us think that threat might come from the far east, as in China. No one was paying attention to the near east.

This bears repeating. The Clinton's dirty laundry has been aired and reaired over and over, definitely making her a bit immune since what's left
that hasn't been said?
She can throw all the mud she wants because she's already covered in it but people don't seem to care.

Maybe some will indeed make that sort of stupid connection "Obama sounds alot like Osama, and he went to a muslim school for a short time as a child;
therefor he must be a terrorist".
That's what Ms. Clinton will want us to think. Sorry, I'll make my own choices. Mr. Obama may not get my vote 'tis true, but it won't be because
of where he went to school when he was a boy, or what his name may vaguely resemble. It'll be because I either agree or disagree with his stance on
issues pertaining to todays world not where he went to school two decades ago.

i think more people are tired of the clinton bs than are gullible enough to fall for the obama osama crap. look at his illinois campaign....i
seriously doubt that you are going to see tit for tat, and that will work to his advantage. many many people on both sides of the aisle are
threatened by this man, because of his rapid rise to power....and they will all most likely use the muslim card....and it's going to bite them in the
rear.
has anyone here actually read up on this man? i have always leaned conservative, but i vote my conscience. this man's ideals are above and beyond
in my opinion. he actually wants to make a difference...and he keeps his campaign promises. when was the last time you saw a politician on
either side of the aisle keep his or her campaign promises?
from one of obama's speaches:
source
The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got
news for them too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States.
We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and
patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United
States of America.
the man is like a breath of fresh air. hillary should be very afraid because she has nothing to offer the country next to him....except her
habitual lies.
