This to me is sad. Bush had the ability to pardon these two border guards during Christmas... Instead, he elected to pardon some damned drug dealers!! Bush is only looking out for his interest with Mexico. He doesn't care about the borders nor the security of this nation. It makes me sick. These guards don't deserve any jail time at all.

This is a bad precedent. The last thing you want to do is make the Border Patrol hesistant to do its job, because it's afraid the illegals have more rights than they do. It sounds like these guys are getting a raw deal.

They are not even aloud to shot at anyone, unless shot at! A few weeks ago our national guard troops had to retreat in the face of illegal gunman. Not a good way to guard the border!

Hell, they are told not to even shoot then... If shot at, what are they told to do? Retreat...

The only thing those border security guards are guilty of is being American, and locking up a few Americans to give our Corporations cheap illegal(Tony Snow might use the word innocent instead of illegal) labor is just drops in the bucket for the Bush Administration.

This is just one more example that the Bush Administration cares nothing for the average American and only about the American Corporation.

Kanye West was only half right, George Bush doesn't like poor Americans regardless of race.

Jobs suck and so does the economy, we need a President who is going to concern themselves with the middle class!

It's a shame, defend the country and get jailtime. Invade the country and commit other crimes while doing so and receive rewards and amnesty.

Well, in the spirit of fairness, this is something that has been going on for quite some time. However, one would think that considering Bush's "hardline" on so many issues, this would be one of them. Obviously, it isn't.

Many liberals want to make this issue about race. Race has nothing to do with it. It's about common sense. If we are honestly fighting a "war on terror," which I am increasingly beginning to doubt, then it would only be prudent to secure both the Canadian and Mexican borders. Yet, instead, America cowers in the corner afraid that it might "offend" someone if it places troops on our national borders.

It's OUR freaking border!! If we want to place damn explosive devices on it that is our prerogative!!

I have nothing against hispanics in general. Most are good,hard working people. It's ironic that the guards that they are imprisoning are of hispanic descent. It goes to show that their loyalty to nation is much stronger than any loyalty to ethnicity...

I will say that America didn't send a very strong message on this issue. they voted out the Republicans who were at least divided on this issue and voted in the Democrats who want amnesty for illegals across the board..
