Ok a lot here have demonstrated that they have a BOB that will take them through some realy rough times.

What about what happens beyond that week/two weeks/month. How will you survive in an instance when you may have to go the rest of your life without a society there to help you?

Shelter; Most of you have working knowledge of how to build a decent temporary shelter but what happens when you need to make a more permenent structure? Can anyone successfully make adobe?

Water; This one should be easy and a priority. So do you find a nice spring or lake or something to gain water by?

Food; your BOB will only take you so far. and who knows how to grow a garden and perhaps get animals corraled for meat?

Weponry; How many bullets do you think your going to need for the rest of your life? What happens when your out of ammo? Think archery.

Im just throwing this out cause after the SHTF someone is going to have to clean up the mess.

So how are you going to survive the rest of your life if we have to go into annother dark age? Also remember your not going to be young forever. Eventualy your going to get old and feable and so how will you handle being less thain superman/woman in this new dark age?

Rather simplistically it goes something like this
You have an EDC for Every Day Issues, Knife, Flashlight, Multi Tool, Watch, Compass, Mini med kit, Cell phone, Wallet with credit card tool, Bandana ( or dust mask),shades or specs, some like mini pry bars (prying open elivator and tube train doors)water puri tabs or straws, micro AM/ FM radio, etc, this is what folks like to have about them all the time, much of this list was developed after listening to the 100s of thousands of new yorkers left stranded during 911.
Next you have your BOB or GOOD or GYH bag ( Bug Out Bag, Get Out Of Dodge bag, or Get You Home bag) which is kept where you spend most of your time, IE home, Work or Office, These kits are designed to help sustain you for between 72 and 168 hours, Their role is to support you til you get home or to your retreat. Wiser folks also have kits in their vehicles and have caches placed along their bug out routes.
When you get home or to your retreat you should have a stockpile of food, clothing, fuel and eqipment to sustain your for a minimum of 3 months, preferably 6 or more months is better.
Among the things you should have stockpiled are reference and how to books on low scale agriculture and technology, seeds for crops etc.

If you are part of a group or in a mutual support scheme you really should have plans in place to develop as soon as possible a basic long term food crop. Generally speaking and being rather unchristian the objective of the exercise is to be able to keep you and your family/ group sustained, healthy and protected until either the millions of sheeple die out, or until some sort of normallcy returns.

what about electricity? could someone use an alternator hooked to a waterwheel or a windmill to gain electic power in a situation?
I am trying to see past surviving into living.

I've just bought a permanent-magnet treadmill motor from ebay as part of an off-grid power wind project, although it's not yet arrived, the spec states the size as 8" long by 4" diameter round the main motor housing, and has the capacity to recharge 12V batteries at 300+ RPM...the beauty is that it's small and light enough to be added to a backpack and could be driven by bike-power/water wheel/wind genny etc
