While America's bravest are out doing the dirty work our government back home has opened the gates to illegal immigration. It seems that there are fewer and fewer jobs today that are secure from competing against illegals for. What I'm wondering is which person is more hirable in the US today and why; the veteran or the illegal and why?

Shouldn't we be doing more to keep illegals out of our country and our jobs?
Shouldn't we be doing more to help our veterans transition back into our society post war?

Veterans are "more hirable" here in the US of A.

I'm a veteran (of the Gulf War) and I can tell you, my service has opened doors that would otherwise have been closed to me).

Illegals can't go in the front door, let alone flaunt recommendations.

Corporate American and government places a high premium on veterans. Its called preference (in hiring).

The answer to the first question is yes.

The answer to the second question is probably yes, but we do have laws on the books regarding the hiring of veterans and the rehiring of Reservists.

The juxtapostion of your questions suggests that illegals are competing for the same jobs as veterans and I don't believe that that is the case.
