Im a three time combat veteran having served in Light Infantry, paratroopers, and two different Special Forces groups. Additionally, I have worked as a Firefighter and Police Officer and moonlighted as a bouncer, bodyguard, and Bond Enforcement Rep. Your analogy to Iraq is seriously flawed on many levels so I wont address it here but do educate yourself on Insurgencies, Phases of Revolutions, Counter-Insurgencies and the like. What I really like to point out is that the vast majority of Law Enforcement and Military personnel are very conservative. Consider that the best, sharpest, most, professional Secret Service agent guarding Obama is a white, conservative, southern/midwestern family man. Irony of Ironies. The so-what in all of this is that when federal agencies are ordered to confiscate guns, this demografic will most likely balk. I just graduated from the Army's Command and General Staff College and offline and out of class, the young major, tomorrows generals, are discussing this.

When will Americans wake up our government has become destructive, and more so with every day I think this snipit from the Declaration of Independence speaks clearly what needs to be done!



It should be noted, Mr T/O/R, that the inestimable Declaration of Independence has NO legal authority. In the time it was written, it was accepted to be a polemic document. It was in other words, a piece of propaganda. But the ideals it expressed were worth dying for, or so several 1000s of colonialists believed. And did. In context, it should be noted the Articles of Confederation had already been written - 1775 - and also in Philadelphia. Although the Revolutionary war was fought and won under those Articles, it soon proved completely inadequate to run a country.

And so in 1787, barely 4 years after the Peace of Paris wherein the 13 colonies gained their independence from King George III, the founders re-assembled in Philadelphia to write out the document we revere today, our Constitution adopted in 1789.

History 101. Between 1865 and 1913, more than 5,000 banks in the United States issued paper money under various state laws and under the authority of Article 1, Section 8, of the US Con. It is also estimated that 30% of the paper currency was counterfeit.

That level of contaminated currency is completely unacceptable for any kind of commerce. Who in Charleston wants to accept in payment of goods, money drawn on a bank in Montpelier? The place of issue was the only place where you could (theoretically) exchange the paper for gold or silver specie. Our finances were in a shambles. The solution was to centralize the issuance of money and at the same time to fix the Supreme Court’s objections to the income tax laws first passed by Congress in 1864 to finance the Civil War. In the late 1880s, the Supreme Court found part of one such law unconstitutional and Congress never acted to fix that.

You cannot have a national currency without a national agency to issue and control it. Hence, also in 1913, the Federal Reserve System was created to take charge of MONEY. Congress had neither the expertise nor the fortitude to run the country’s money.

Well guys, this thread's been going on for a cpl. years I see. all starting with an unlikely proposal that the American people would give up they're guns, to people from Britain reminding us that we didn't do anything when they instituted the Patriot act, which he was right by the way it really was the biggest kick in the balls our Constitution ever had. and on another hand we've had someone decrying that we'd all be happy if Democracy ruled the earth and every country in it. This is where I got all bent out of shape and just had to reply.
First of All America is not a God damn Democracy. Never has been and if were all lucky never will be.
read your history books people Democracy is not a new idea and so far has never once in all of world history ever been a successful form of Government. In fact Democracy has been used as a tool to take down successful Government's throughout history, and it will take down ours if we don't realize it's the brainwashed mindset that were a Democracy that is our problem. Read the founding fathers comments on it in the federalist papers, There you will find they were very explicit in they're warnings what would happen if we ever embraced it as a form of Government. here's a quote from the founding fathers that might shake your timbers a bit.

You will not find one quote from any one of the founders of this Nation endorsing Democracy as our form of Government. We are a "Constitutional Republic". and the difference between a Republic and a Democracy are night and day.
A republic is Rule by Law, (the Constitution)
A Democracy is rule by majority (Mob Rule)
further more there is no point or purpose to a Constitution if the Mob can over rule it with a majority vote, so there is no purpose for a Constitution in a Democracy, however A Constitution is the essence of a Republic, where the Government is permanently restrained by the law of the Constitution, not boundless by the whims of a majority.
We have 2 choices people, We can keep our Republic, or we will lose it to an Oligarchy tyranny by the elite, as has happened absolutely every time in the history of the world Democracy has been used as a model or form of Government. They have many fooled into believing that a Global Democracy will save the world, but not me.
I know History, and I know better. All the problems we face in this Great nation and our brothers across the ocean too. It's not this thing or that thing, or even a little of this or a little of that thing, whatever it is. It's one awful thought, that a majority of the earth's population actually believes Democracy is the way to the future for mankind.
As John Adams just pointed out in a quote from him above, We have wasted our fortunes and we have exhausted our resources, we are now about to commit suicide If we do not rise to the occasion as our fore fathers did. For if we dare to even think about handing over the controls of our individual Nations of this earth to a Global Democracy, We have committed the ultimate in Global suicide.
The American Constitution is a Remarkable living Document that guarantee's freedom, Liberty, and Justice for all People and they're posterity. The world would do a lot worse with anything less than the sheer perfection of the American Constitution and we would be a far better example of this if our Government and our own people actually followed it, instead of proclaiming and teaching the ignorant people of this world that we were a Democracy, follow our lead.

Whatever Nation, and Whomever you are, wherever you are. If you live in a Democracy, I suggest you prepare. There has never been nor will there ever be a successful Democracy, and history says that tyranny has always followed, which is the sole and only purpose why the Writers of our Constitution mandated that we have the right to keep and bear arms. They knew, They absolutely knew that we would have difficulty in keeping Democracy at bay. and Thomas Jefferson told us himself.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants".
