What current scientists have said that? None of them. In fact no scientists has said that there will be a polarity shift in the earth in 2012, the only people to predict this were the mayans, and people have said that 2006 was 2012, because the Mayan calander was off. So what predictions does that help? I bet you that all of us will still be alive around 2012. That was nothing more than a mere prediction.

Actually you are wrong. There are scientists talking about it and NASA says we are overdue for a pole shift.

btw you can use the internet to find this stuff out yourself before making a bash post

interesting
But who's right?

Who knows.

Mushroom Fields Forever, that says nothing about a polarity shift in the earth shifting the northern and souther poles, all it says is that the sun's magnetic polarity may shift. That may or may not affect the Earth.

Actually the Mayans said nothing of a pole shift in 2012.
It would behoove you to actually read what the calendar has been translated to say.
The short of it being that we will be entering a new cycle. It also doesn't say it's the end of the world or that everyone will die.

No, no one ,not even the mayans said SPECIFICALLY that there will be a pole shift, so that makes the "bash" and/or thread heading/topic null and void.

ALL theories put foward regarding the events of 2012 are just that...THEORIES, by people fishing for an answer.

However, these "theories" are (some of them) born out of scientific data, which IS in itself quite interesting.

Here is some of the data compiled in a nice little vid that i posted in another forum thread a couple of weeks ago....

(VHS quality but very watchable)

Gregg Braden....AWAKEN TO ZERO POINT.....PART 1

PART 2

PART 3

PART 4

I have verified (well, googled....ALMOST the same thing
) most of the info on those links which makes the info VERY interesting.

Here's the thread i mentioned...

More vids on here

And as for the pole flip, who knows. But the earths magnetic field strength is only 5% of what it was 6000 years ago, and some say that this MAYBE proof that the earths core has stopped turning (or at least slowed down) and that the "bulk" of the earth will catch up with this event,

(our magnetic field is generated by the friction in the interior of the earth due to rotation, this is how they arrived at the idea that rotation has decreased DRAMATICALLY)

And it HAS flipped in the past, SIXTY times infact (shown by certain deposits in rocks, orientated according to the N-S poles of the earth at time of deposit), and we are over due for another.

The universe and all its mysteries is more than any of us we'll know in this life time, who are WE to say there isnt a rythemic flow to pole flips and that the Mayans didnt work this out.

Even if you dont believe something, you should always try to find out why OTHERS do, so you can TRUELY know why YOU don't

Why does everyone assume thats the end.

Dont worry, be happy. Its only the beginning.

A great, new beginning with less unenlightened people to deal with.

Edited to say: When the OP does more self educating, I will then add much more. We all have to do some of our own work.

"Earth’s magnetic field also flips, but with less regularity. Consecutive reversals are spaced 5 thousand years to 50 million years apart. The last reversal happened 740,000 years ago. Some researchers think our planet is overdue for another one, but nobody knows exactly when the next reversal might occur."

Maverickhunter you been readin up or what?

Here are some daily media releases that should help

Solar cycles will peak in 2012 – the devastation can be severe as 400-year cycle repeats itself
India Daily Technology Team
Dec. 24, 2006

Data from NASA and other scientific sources point to something big in 2012. The solar cycles will peak like never before in the last 400 years. The 400 - year cycle normally is associated with severe volcanoes, earthquakes, devastating floods, storms and Tsunamis. Many of these 400-year cycles have seen mind boggling super volcanoes. Solar cycle 24, due to peak in 2010 or 2011 may be delayed by six months to a year it seems. But effects of that delay can be severe.

When a gust of solar wind hits Earth's magnetic field, the impact causes the magnetic field to shake. If it shakes hard enough, we call it a geomagnetic storm. When moderate in historical terms, these storms cause power outages and make compass needles swing in the wrong direction. Auroras are a beautiful side-effect. But when the magnitude escalates many times, many other geo-physical effects start happening. The amount of geomagnetic activity now tells the scientists what the solar cycle is going to be like 6 to 8 years in the future.

A computer model monitoring the recent seismic disturbances – earthquakes and volcanoes show extreme disturbance in the outer and inner core of the earth. The interaction of the inner core and the rest of the earth cause the electromagnetic properties of the earth. The ongoing polar reversal is accelerating and will eventually have reverse polarity in North and South pole. According to the simulation model, the earth’s inner core and outer core is going through some serious disturbances. That in turn is influencing the viscous semi fluid mantle. When that happens, the convection within mantle increases substantially. That is also influenced by solar polar reversal. In our modern age we have not experienced a simultaneous solar and terrestrial polar reversal. Between now and 2012, these disturbances will keep increasing making earth’s crust and tectonic plates very disturbed causing severe volcanoes and earthquakes.

In the last four months the earth experienced the largest three earthquakes in the last two hundred years. The under water volcanoes and earthquakes have gone up 88% over the last three years. The continental earthquakes have gone up by 62% during the same time frame. The rate of increase of these earthquakes and volcanoes when drawn against time is staggering.

Some scientists are now afraid that we are moving towards 2012 with ticking time bomb under us. Something catastrophic like the lost world Atlantis can repeat.

Wow, MMF, nice find! That article answered some questions I've had for awhile. That's the best description of what's happening/will happen, that I've seen yet.
Thanks
