A few years ago I made up a story that I was from the future, but I never though it would get so big, I never wanted all the attention, I apologize for lying, please accept my apology, thanks.

Its pretty clear that you aren't the guy behind hte John Titor fraud. If he wanted to let people know that it was all a joke, he'd announce it through his lawyers in florida.

It is clear that Alan950 is not John Titor for 2 reasons.

Why would you come on here to post your apology when the
Titor story was a internet wide story ?

The other reason which is kind of interesting is that Alan 950
is a new member registered today 1/14/2007, less than 24 hours old ?
Why wait until over 6 years later to apologize? why not 1 year later ? or last year ?

John Titor, assuming he is a fake alias.. if he were to expose himself, I am positive, would use a much more elaborate post than some chap saying .. Oh yeh. .. sorry, I'm John Titor.. The guy was smart enough to make up all of the information for the hoax.. providing it WAS a hoax.. so therefore.. you seem highly uncredible.

Well, hoaxing is indeed a bannable offense on ATS.

And what I find intriguing about this particular scenario is that it has two possible outcomes:

1. Alan950 could prove he's John Titor and be banned for hoaxing.

2. Alan950 could fail to prove he's John Titor and be banned for hoaxing.

Now I look at the logic involved here and I'm forced to ask myself:

What Would Titor Do?

Hahaha.... why would the person who created the whole Titor story come clean with one simple sentence after creating an elaborate hoax.

The real hoaxer John Titor could probably make some money off writing a book on how he fooled so many people. He wouldn't post one liner.

As far as banning, we ban when people defraud the board. So far, we haven't demonstrated fraud to a satisfactory level. The original poster is definitly going to be given the oppurtunity to respond and discuss.

The real maker of John Titor would likely have at least a couple of images or stills that could be scanned, that didnt make the cut for the original hoax. Not likely all evidence of the creation of Titor would have been disposed of or lost since it isnt all that old a hoax anyway.

They would also be able to identify the travel machine schematic origins.
