Anyone find it peculiar that our president did not have a flag behind him during the speech (empty space where flag would have been) and
he didnt make any reference to "God blessing America" either at the
end?
I find this very peculiar.
Anyone?

Hehe, now why would Bush want God to bless anymore the very people that opposed him and his Iraq war in the last elections? And as to the flag, ditto, pretty much. It just represents those people.

Well, i agree with you but this is a little shocking...

He should have done it in baby steps...maybe no flag this time and then next time maybe do away without the blessing.

Seriously, though, whatever the reason it was very obvious. After all, he's the president. Still.

Anyone find this a little strange? Am i reading too much into this?
I have a tendency to over react when it comes to George.

Maybe he wasnt in America at all. Could that be it?( There's already a thread on this)
That's it. He wasnt in America!!!!!

Anyone else?

The flag? Didn't notice.

It was set in the library to make it less formal... more er.. cozy... personal.. all that good stuff. You know. Leave business behind and have a one on one with the American man.
Who knows why the born again christian (so he says anyways) did not say god bless...?? Sign of the end times!!!

Maybe it's a subtle clue as to the fact that Bush is now speaking purely for HIMSELF and HIS agenda - not America, it's people, or God.

To the best of my knowledge he has no control over those finer points, and doubtful he'd even notice them.

Funny thing about figureheads.

I notice the details and someone else, to be honest mentioned that

he did not "God bless America" us last night either. Where the flag should have been there was only empty space. Quite obviously too.

Maybe he IS a sore loser.

Perhaps the answer lies in these threads:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If there is to be a North American Union, why show the US flag?

www.abovetopsecret.com...'

If America is only an idea, then there is no need to “God bless” it.

Well, just an observation. That's all.

God only knows what his reasoning is. I half expect him to wear the /////
Hitler moustache anyway.

Always wondering.

Maybe the whole thing was rushed and the people that are responsible for the shot backdrop weren't doing there job? Maybe as of right now they're fired? Maybe someone spilled a bottle of V8 on it? Maybe the media crew that works with Bush is unprofessional.... or maybe he's evil and sending subliminal messages, "I hate America. I hate America. No more flag. No more flag......."

Maybe he didn't like the way it clashed with his tie or something?

Well, to me he looked pure robotic.

I mean in his grey dawning black suit and all -and now this no-flag-thing- (sorry, I didn't notice) it looked like an armor...
and those like modeled parts of his facial musculary, hardly moving as he spoke... To me they looked like been moulded in vax.

As I watched I got convinced, this was not a human!

Could they have replaced the President of the United States with a robot??

Maybe they borrowed a Diney automatron.

Or he could have been botoxed for the speech.

Edited due to lack of spell checker. I think faster than I type.

A robot with no soul. Brings to mind the robot from Ray Bradberry's episode in Twighlight Zone. I Trip the Electric something or other.

I thought it was tripping the light fantastic?
I don't know, I'm tired, it's late.
Maybe it was just all computer effects......and the next president is just going to be a computer that beams an image of a man onto our TV screens, who doesn't exist.

Now come on khun, even a robot could have been more convincing than he was in that speech.

But seriously, dg raises a good point here. It is quite odd. And from many angles. There is an issue of respect there, too. Doesn't the POTUS, when presenting, have a certain traditional responsibility to see to it that the presentation look completely official, seeing as he is representing the USA? I could almost see past no "God Bless America," but the absense of the flag is very curious indeed.

Well, if it was Friday we could have said it was "casual Friday" but......
seriously, could it be that someone forgot it?

Oh no, now it's drugs.
First it was robots, then automatons, then soulless robots, followed by CGI........
......this is why I love this site. Not only is it informative, it's thoroughly entertaining.

Those details are never forgotten.

Did he also forget to bless us?? he's always blessed us. (meaningless, i know, but think about it)

I'm reading more into this maybe, but i thought these actions were disrespectful. Anyway, am i the only one in America who noticed this right off the bat? I havent heard any commentaries on tv about it either.

Trip the Light Fantastic was a song, btw. The Twighlight Zone episode was different.
