Poppy Bush WAS in the CIA in the 50's

The folks at Realnews.org have uncovered documents that show that George Herbert Walker Bush had a connection with the CIA and indeed may have been an operative beginning in the 1950's. Based on Zapata Oil and the operations that modest oil company recorded it would seem that Zapata has always been a CIA cover operation and Poppy Bush has always had his hands dirty.

According to a CIA internal memo dated November 29, 1975, Bush's original oil company, Zapata Petroleum, began in 1953 through joint efforts with Thomas J. Devine, a CIA staffer who had resigned his agency position that same year to go into private business. The '75 memo describes Devine as an “oil wild-catting associate of Mr. Bush.” The memo is attached to an earlier memo written in 1968, which lays out how Devine resumed work for the secret agency under commercial cover beginning in 1963.

Indeed, Zapata's annual reports portray a bewildering range of global activities, in the Mideast, Asia and the Caribbean (including off Cuba) that seem outsized for the company's modest bottom line. In his autobiography, Bush declares that “I'd come to the CIA with some general knowledge of how it operated' and that his 'overseas contacts as a businessman' justified President Nixon's appointing him as UN ambassador, a decision that at the time was highly controversial.

Previously disclosed FBI files include a memo from bureau director J. Edgar Hoover, noting that his organization had given a briefing to two men in the intelligence community on November 23, 1963, the day after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The memo refers to one as “Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency” and the other as “Captain William Edwards of the Defense Intelligence Agency.”

It is interesting how the hypothesis put forth by the maker of JFKII- The Bush Connection clearly mentions that Ex-President G.H.W. Bush had an oil company named Zapata that was used as cover and logistical support by the operation resulting in the Bay of Pigs debacle.

It is a short jump from here to say that in light of the documents uncovered, the views put forth in JFKII - The Bush Connection are, at least, more plausible.

I saw this elsewhere and found it fairly interesting. This is actually the second official indication that George H. W. Bush worked for the CIA prior to 1976—the first being a letter from J. Edgar Hoover to the State Department referring to a meeting he had with "Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency". Bush denied that it referred to him and the CIA said that it was referring to a different George Bush that had been working for them at the time, but that man was a low level analyst and has testified that it was definitely not referring to him. The new documents, however, would certainly seem to add a bit more useful information. Oh, and there's the issue of the Bay of Pigs—Operation Zapata—ships' names: Barbara J, Houston, and Zapata.

yes george Sr. owned zapata ,worked with the CIA. He was used to transport the hardwear (guns etc.) to a point off the coast of Cuba, where
then the freshly trained freedom fighters (CIA trained,in usa) could supply themselves for the invasion. that was actually the second job he took on. His first was to enable the flow of herion into this country to continue after Castro renigged on his agreement with the CIA . Before Castro took the island he went to meet with the CIA & Mafia,let them know what he was planning and that he would continue to let the dope flow and the money wash thru the casinos as had been during the Batista rule.
