Comet McNaught is visible NOW. 1/2 hour before sunset and 1/2 hour after sunset. It is thought that it could get to be as bright as 20 times brighter than Venus!

Hopefully I won't have to drag the 'scope onto the roof, since it's 'low on the horizon' position, may make it difficult to spot, in my neighborhood.

I am of the opinion that Mabus is Osama and Bush. osaMABUsh. (Bush still has to escape the 20 year curse.) I think 'the comet' will be when Osama and Bush have both died. Of course, we might not ever know when Osama dies ...

Okay guys ... I it's finally a crisp clear night and I can see it out of my second floor bedroom window. It's right where the space guys said it would be and it's BRIGHT.

I can see it without aid. It's a naked-eye comet. WOW!
No tail. But bright.

I have to wonder if the appearance of this "bright new comet" could be related to the current events of today and next few days.

Isn't said in several places, not just bible prophecy... that comet sightings are correlated to events on earth?? what was that cross in the sky thing with a comet or something like that from a while back?? and then we had the mysterious rock and the russian rocket incident and not to mention that prior to all of this in mid december we had that solar storm or cme headed our way... ....

That is what I first thought as well..

Mabus backwards is Subam .... Subam... Sounds alot like Suddam. A French person who would not recognize an Arab name would surly mix it up, and to spell it backwards would not be uncommon.

The comet which I did not even know was coming, has never been in the news.. passes what the middle of the month. Guess we will see......

I saw it also, was wondering what is was until I saw this thread. It was really brilliant, beautiful sight.

i'm getting my telescope out right now. i dont know if i'll be able to see anything though because i've never used my telescope at this location.

It's 9:25 pm EST now. (depending where you are) Too late for over here on the East Coast. 1/2 hour after sunset and 1/2 hour before sunrise are best.
