Weird Metallic Object Hits NJ Home

Seems like a pretty strange, golf-ball-sized object was recovered after it came through the roof of a NJ home. It's pretty weird looking, definitely metallic and no one knows what it might be as yet.

Personally, I've never seen a meteorite this metallic looking. Although it doesn't look like the object Bob White insists is an alien artifact
Bob White's Alien Poo, it is metallic. I guess we'll just have to wait for the analysis that is underway.

ACtually, it looks like a pretty standard meteorite to me, and I'm sure that's what it will turn out to be.

Why could it not be a piece of our space junk which finally fell back to Earth?

there was a meteor shower that night. that would point to the obvious, no?

Is there a re-entry ban on space junk during meteor showers?

I'd prefer to wait the 72 hours for the 'official word' on what this metal golf ball is composed of.

obvious would say a meteorite... buttttt ive found out that the obvious turns out to be anything but as of late!

Lets assume it is for now, being it came from '' up there ''

but just imagine for a second... if it hatched

if you walk thru a hail storm and get bonked on the head with an object, odds are it was a chunk of hail.

if you walk thru the rain and get wet, it is probably due to the rain and not someone with a hose.

if you pass thru a meteor shower and a rock that looks like a meteor crashes into your house, odds are it is a meteor.

what if a meteor falls duing a rain storm or hail?

'chances are' means there's a CHANCE

so stating you can have a definitive ANSWER is flawed..

but i agree, more than likely its a meteor, but lets just wait before we condem people for having a open mind

Exactly.

And there is just a minute possibility that it is space junk too.

I'd be willing to bet you a Papa burger and a root beer that it's just space junk, mainly because of the color and seemingly pure metal (unknown) composition of the object.

It could be, by aren't they classed as "meteors" in any case?

I'm guessing meteor or a frozen turd dropped from an airplane.

Good question.

I've always considered meteorites to be of extra-terrestrial origins, while space junk is just that... stuff we put up there and is now falling back.

However... they do look the same upon re-entry.

I did some googling before I posted this to see if I could find a meteorite picture that looked anything like this. I haven't. Has anyone else been able to find a picture that looks like this?


The article said ity was heavier than a typical metal object of its size which would rule-out a meteorite. It would be ideal if we knew whther it was magnetic or not.

Intresting.. Is this supposed to have just fell from the sky? Cause wouldn't people of seen it before it crashed?

New Jersey seems to have more than it's share of events like this. I seem to remember a couple of houses and a police car being struck by meteorites. I think the police car was in 1979.
