Wearing a white dress shirt unbuttoned at the top, dark blazer and light brown pants, Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer sauntered in and out of the courtroom Friday.

Judge Vincent Atencio asked Plummer if he agreed with a plea deal and Plummer quickly answered, "Yes, sir."

And that may be the end of Plummer's road-rage incident in which he was accused of damaging the license plate holder on Douglas Stone's 1992 Ford Ranger in April.

Plummer formally accepted the deal of deferred prosecution, which means he won't be charged with wrongdoing if he stays out of trouble for the next nine months.

"I'm borrowing a line from Shakespeare: It's much ado about nothing," said Plummer's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, who paid the $26 in restitution and a $50 court fee himself.

City attorney Dugan Comer declined to comment on the plea agreement.

Stone didn't immediately return a phone call Friday.

Plummer, who declined comment as he walked out of the Englewood courtroom, was issued a summons last May after he was accused of kicking the headlight on Stone's vehicle, then backing his SUV into the other vehicle.

Plummer acknowledged cutting off the truck, driven by the 47-year-old Stone of Denver, but said he waved and apologized. Plummer said he got out of his SUV only after Stone blared his horn and then tapped the bumper of Plummer's truck.

Stone has described the incident as minor and said all he wanted was restitution for the broken license plate holder and an admission from Plummer that he played a role in the encounter.

Plummer got off to a rocky start this season by throwing four interceptions and no touchdown passes in the first two games. He righted himself during the Broncos' win over New England by throwing for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

The Broncos have a bye this weekend.
