I'm thinking that the Yalies may have been a little tired by the time this thing was over, having also played the night before. The longest hockey game of all time was played as a fundraiser to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, with a length of 203 minutes, so they weren't too far off. And this one actually meant something.

Yale won the longest NCAA men's hockey game -- a contest lasting more than six hours in which the Bulldogs beat Union 3-2 in five overtimes.

The game ended early Sunday after 141 minutes, 35 seconds when David Meckler scored short-handed. The previous NCAA record was 129:30 on March 8, 1997, with Colorado College defeating Wisconsin 1-0.
