In an unprecedented move, the Boston Bruins trade away their captain
to the Sharks for 3 players. 3 time all star and a 20 goal scorer each of the last 5 season, Thornton has only managed 9 goals so far this season.
Comming over from the Sharks are Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart. The Sharks are in need of a huge boost, winless in their last 10, while
the Bruins only have 1 win in their last 10. I would mark this as the first big trade of the year. Both the Sharks and the Bruins are in last place in
their respective divisions.

BOSTON - The struggling Boston Bruins traded captain Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night in exchange for three players.
The Bruins get forwards Marco Sturm and Wayne Primeau and defenseman Brad Stuart for Thornton, who signed a three-year, $20 million contract with
Boston in August and was once thought to be the future of the franchise.
Comments:
I expect many more trades with big name players over the next few months. Some teams are below the cap only because some of their players are injured
and don't count against the cap (ie The Devils).
