Henri Camara fired Southampton out of the bottom three with a stunning late winner as Norwich slumped to the bottom of the Barclays Premiership table.

On loan at St Mary's from Wolves via Celtic, the Senegalese striker rifled home from long range just two minutes from time, Southampton winning the game 4-3. Matt Oakley, Peter Crouch and Graeme Le Saux had scored in the first half for Saints, with David Bentley, a Danny Higginbotham own goal and Leon McKenzie's strike in injury time pulling Norwich level at 3-3 going into half-time. Amazingly, despite there being almost as many chances in the second half, it remained goalless - until the 88th minute. It was then that Camara made his devastating impact, scoring the most valuable goal of his short Saints career since being plucked from Celtic's reserves by Harry Redknapp.

Crystal Palace, who were 17th at kick-off, fell a place into the bottom three despite holding Newcastle to a goalless draw at St James' Park.

In the race for fourth place, which looks increasingly likely to guarantee Champions League football next season, Liverpool clawed back one point on Everton.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough at Anfield. They fell behind after just four minutes, Szilard Nemeth brushing aside Mauricio Pellegrino and drilling a low shot past Jerzy Dudek after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's pass. But they equalised through Steven Gerrard in the 52nd minute, the captain blazing a fierce 30-yard strike into the top left corner for one of his most memorable goals.

Everton remain fourth despite losing 2-0 at Fulham. Collins John rifled the Cottagers in front in the 15th minute, and although Everton had chances to equalise, it was Fulham who got the game's second goal with Brian McBride's perfectly-executed header arriving in the 39th minute. Fulham had Papa Bouba Diop dismissed in the second half after two bookable offences, and although David Moyes made changes in an effort to salvage a result, the Merseysiders could not get back into the game.

Jon Stead put Blackburn 1-0 ahead at Birmingham, heading in Brett Emerton's cross after 13 minutes, but Blues roared back into the game after half-time to win 2-1. They equalised through Robbie Blake after 61 minutes and Emile Heskey fired a superb winner with 10 minutes left.

Manchester City beat Portsmouth 2-0 thanks to goals from Sylvain Distin and Robbie Fowler.
