Chicago Cubs shortstop Nomar Garciaparra will be sidelined at least two to three months because of a torn left groin. The pain from a torn groin could
have left Nomar Garciaparra seeing dollar signs now out of his reach.
Garciaparra was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, one day after he got hurt while leaving the batter's box during a game against St. Louis.
Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said the muscle pulled away from the bone.
The Cubs, doctors and Garciaparra will decide in the next 10 days whether an operation is needed. LINK
Thats a huge blow to the Cubbies, they're already without second baseman Todd Walker. Nomar was off to a slow start, but there's no doubt he would
have gotten things going had he not gone down with this injury. The Cubs are left with Neifi Perez and Jerry Hairston Jr as their middle infielders,
suddenly they're looking pretty thin.
The Cubs will have to do what they do best and rely on that pitching to come through, the bats are very thing right now, especially with Nomar out and
Sammy gone to Baltimore, the pitching has to step up
There is talks that he might miss the entire season. An injury what he has sustained has kept out other sportsmen for a long time. Although he had
yet to get his bat in full swing and was struggling at the plate, it will be a huge blow for them. In a league where St Louis has a great chance to
take the title again, it could prove to be hard going for the Cubs.
