GREEN BAY, Wis. (Jan. 28, 2005) -- Former Packer Edgar Bennett was hired as the team's running backs coach.

Bennett replaces Johnny Roland, who will accept a similar position with the New Orleans Saints.

The team's fourth-round draft selection in 1992, Bennett is the ninth-leading rusher in Packers history with 3,353 yards from 1992-96. He also holds the club's single-season record for receptions by a running back at 78, set in 1994.

Bennett spent the last four years in the team's player development department, and it was recognized in 2003 as the best in the NFC. He also helped coach the running backs over the last few years, assisted scouts and performed evaluations on selected players.
