Charles Seaver, the father of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver and one of the all-time great amateur golfers, died today. He was 93.
Charles Seaver was named to the Walker Cup team in 1932 and went unbeaten as the US earned an 8-1 victory.
"My dad was my hero," said Tom Seaver. "All of my competitiveness on the playing field came from him.
"He always came to as many games as possible and it was so important to me that he was there when I was inducted into the Hall of Fame (1992). I
wouldn't have gotten where I am without his instruction and guidance."
