Not even athletes are immune to thieves and murderers. Brazillian soccer player Cleonicio dos Santos Silva was shot and killed after theives tried to
carjack him. Silva, also known as Renato was driving through a particularly bad neighborhood when the tragedy occured.
Associated Press RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Soccer player Cleonicio dos Santos Silva was shot and killed by thieves apparently trying to steal his car.
The 28-year-old striker for FC Zurich, also known as Renato, died Monday and was buried Tuesday, according to the Brazil Soccer Confederation.
Renato and his girlfriend were driving in Rio's Bangu neighborhood, one of the city's most violent areas, when gunmen tried to intercept his new
car.
