Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters' latest wrist injury will likely end her season, but it's not expected to require surgery.
Clijsters, who will undergo some tests this week, pulled out of her semifinal match in Hasselt over the weekend after suffering another injury to her
left wrist, the same wrist that recently required surgery and sidelined the Belgian star for more than four months.
The tournament doctor in Hasselt told a newspaper that Clijsters' latest injury could threaten her career.
"This injury can mean the end of her career," Bruno Willems said, according to the paper De Morgen. "I hope she comes back, but I'm pessimistic."
The 21-year-old Clijsters was this year's Australian Open runner-up and is also a former finalist at the French Open (2001, 2003) and U.S. Open
The popular Clijsters is engaged to men's former world No. 1 star Lleyton Hewitt.
