Officials at Auburn University have met and decided that Saturday's football game between LSU and Auburn will still be played at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The SEC announced that all of its games will be played as scheduled.
Both Auburn and 'Bama were bracing Thursday for some kind of hit from Hurricane Ivan, which made landfall early Thursday, dumping rain and causing
widespread power outages in the state. While the power was on at both schools as of Thursday morning, Alabama had closed its media relations
department because of the threat from Ivan.
A phone message there said Alabama officials would meet Friday morning to assess the situation.
At Auburn, some athletic department personnel spent Wednesday night in the school's athletic complex. Players were taken to a hotel. As the storm
passed through, tornado sirens sounded in the city on Thursday morning.
Alabama plays host to Western Carolina.
Knoxville, Tenn., which also could be in the path of the remnants of the storm, is expected to receive rain both Friday and Saturday. Officials are
monitoring the situation as Florida gets ready to visit Tennessee for a Saturday night game.
Ivan has screwed sports sceduling enough already.
