Jumbo Jet sized deal for Chad Pennington, making sure that he will be a
Jet until 2011. After only 3 years in the league, 2 of which he did not even play, he gets one juicy contract. The Jets made it their priority to sign
Chad to a long term deal, and they got it done. Now they need to see if they can re-sign their other draft picks from 2000.

Chad Pennington received his contract extension right on time -- and for the right amount of money to keep him a Jet through 2011.
Pennington's blockbuster extension is for seven years and is worth $64.197 million. It includes $23 million in guarantees, including signing and
roster bonuses.
Pennington set a Sept. 1 deadline to try to extend his contract, which was scheduled to expire after the season. On Tuesday, sensing a deal was close,
Pennington was willing to wait another day or two to get a deal done.

These deals never cease to amaze me. I just don't get it. A player leads you to one playoff, and you give him almost 10 mil a year? Wasn't he hurt
part of those 3 years? And a backup to Vinny the rest?
