Athens, Greece (Sports Network) - Fani Halkia of Greece thrilled the home crowd Wednesday night at the Olympics by winning gold in the women's 400
meter hurdles.
Halkia finished the race in 52.82 seconds, which was .05 off her Olympic record, set on Sunday. Ionela Tirlea-Manolache of Romania won the silver
medal in 53.38 seconds, while Tetiana Tereshchuk-Antipova of the Ukraine was third in 53.44 seconds.
American Sheena Johnson was fourth, while Brenda Taylor of the United States was seventh.
