Athens, Greece (Sports Network) - Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs won the first ever United States Olympic medal in beach volleyball Tuesday night,
beating Australians Natalie Cook and Nicole Sanderson in the bronze medal match.
The U.S. is now guaranteed at least two medals here, this because American favorites Misty May and Kerri Walsh are set to take on Adriana Behar and
Shelda Bede of Brazil in the gold medal match tonight.
McPeak and Youngs needed three sets for the win. They opened up the match with a 21-18 victory in the first, but the Aussies, despite a right shoulder
injury to Cook that caused her obvious pain, took the second set rather easily, 21-15.
Cook played through the pain in her shoulder, wincing when a lull in the action would allow her to, but the Americans were too strong in the end. They
coasted to a 15-9 win in the third set, dropping one match point before finishing the Aussies off
