Wigan stayed on top of the Coca-Cola Championship on Saturday with a 3-0 win against Brighton at the JJB Stadium. Nathan Ellington grabbed the opener just before the break and added a second four minutes into the second half. Per Frandsen grabbed a late third to seal the win and keep the Latics ahead of Plymouth on goal difference.

Plymouth kept the pressure on Paul Jewell's side with a 2-1 win over Sunderland at Home Park. Paul Wotton opened the scoring for the Pilgrims after a minute and Stevie Crawford grabbed a second five minutes before the break. Marcus Stewart gave the Black Cats a chance with goal on 77 minutes but Bobby Williamson's side clung on.

Danny Webber scored in the final moments against as Watford snatched a 1-0 win from Leicester at the Walkers Stadium. The former Manchester United striker struck from six yards from a Bruce Dyer cross as Micky Adams' poor start to the season continued.

Nottingham Forest grabbed a point against Leeds with a late penalty from Andy Reid. The midfielder struck to secure a 1-1 draw with 12 minutes to go at Elland Road after Steve Guppy gave the home side the lead in the 25th minute.

Stoke took the points at the Britannia Stadium after Gillingham had John Hills sent off in the first half. Goals from Gifton Noel-Williams and Ade Akinbiyi gave Tony Pulis' side a 2-0 success.

Danny Dichio grabbed a late winner for Millwall as they secured a 1-0 away win against Coventry. The former QPR striker struck with 10 minutes remaining at Highfield Road to give his side their first away victory of the season.

Teddy Sheringham scored two goals in the first half but West Ham were made to work hard for the points at Crewe. The former England international struck after 16 and 22 minutes and Rufus Brevett added a third after half an hour. But Dean Ashton scored twice to set up tight finish but the Hammers held on for a 3-2 success.

Burnley and Wolves shared the points at Turf Moor after Shaun Newton had given the visitors the lead after 15 minutes. But Robbie Blake grabbed an equaliser nine minutes later and the match finished 1-1.

Ian Westlake sealed a 3-1 win for Ipswich against Cardiff at Portman Road with a goal four minutes from full-time. Darren Bent opened the scoring after 21 minutes but Alan Lee levelled 10 minutes into the second half. Tommy Miller's goal gave the Joe Royle's side the lead and Westlake wrapped up the win.

Derby won 2-0 away at QPR with goals from Tommy Smith and Marcus Tudgay in the first half to give George Burley's side the win at Loftus Road. Dave Kitson scored the only goal of the game at the Madejski Stadium as Reading beat Rotherham. Shaun Barker fouled Nicky Forster just before the break and Kitson smashed the penalty past Michael Pollitt.
