Lindsay Davenport cruised into the semi-finals at the WTA Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati with an easy 6-2 6-2 victory
over seventh seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy.
The top-seeded American - ranked fourth in the world - disposed of the overmatched Pennetta in just 45 minutes. Davenport, a gold medallist at the
1996 Games in Atlanta, elected not to participate in this year's Olympics in Athens to prepare for the US Open.
In the semi-finals, Davenport will face fourth seed Marion Bartoli of France who beat unseeded American Laura Granville 6-3 6-1.
Second-seeded Vera Zvonareva also moved into the last four with a 6-2 6-2 rout of Chinese qualifier Shuai Penga.
The Russian faces a competitive match in the semi-finals when she meets third-seeded American Amy Frazier, who crushed Selim Sfar of Tunisia 6-3 6-1.
