Athens, Greece (Sports Network) - Americans Laura Wilkinson and Sara Hildebrand each advanced, albeit barely, to the semifinals of the women's
10-meter platform competition. The semifinals are Saturday with the final on Sunday.
Wilkinson, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist, and Hildebrand, also an Olympian four years ago, qualified in the 13th and 14th spots among 18 advancing to
the next round.
"All of my practices, including this morning (prior to competition), have been great," Wilkinson said. "I am a little frustrated because I didn't do
that in the meet. All my take offs were there, it was just a little off on the bottom but I am confident that will come. We have been working on that
and I hope it will come out on Sunday."
Olena Zhupina of the Ukraine topped all semifinalists with 371.10 points. Wilkinson had 314.59, while Hildebrand had 308.49.
