PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles defensive end N.D. Kalu will miss the season after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at Tuesday's
practice. No date has been determined for Kalu's surgery.
Kalu had to be carried off the field by teammates after he hurt himself during a scrimmage at the NovaCare Complex.
Kalu started all 16 games for the Eagles last year and finished third on the team with 5 1/2 sacks. He was a fifth-round pick the by Eagles in 1997
and spent three years with Washington before returning to Philadelphia in 2001.
Coach Andy Reid said Derrick Burgess will start at the right end spot, with Jerome McDougle also getting additional playing time.
