New York, NY (Sports Network) - Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was suspended for two games Monday and fined an undisclosed amount of money
due to inappropriate comments and actions directed toward umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.
The incident occurred at U.S. Cellular Field during an August 9, 2004 game against Cleveland. The Indians won the contest 13-11.
Unless appealed, Guillen will begin serving his suspension on August 17.
The White Sox named Guillen the 37th manager in club history prior to this season after he had spent the previous three years with Florida. Last year,
he was the Marlins' third base coach during their championship run.
Chicago is currently 59-56 this year and sits in third place in the AL Central Division.
