St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild on Thursday re-signed left wing Andrew Brunette and defenseman Willie Mitchell to one-year contracts worth $1.7 million.

The 30-year-old Brunette was first on the team with 34 assists last season and second with 49 points. He also appeared in all 82 games for the second consecutive year and was the only Minnesota player to play in every regular- season contest last season.

Brunette, who was selected by Washington in the sixth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, has 121 goals and 223 assists in his career with the Capitals, Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers and Wild.

Mitchell posted career highs last season in games played (70), assists (13) and points (14). The 27-year-old has seven goals and 44 helpers in his career with New Jersey and Minnesota. He was chosen by the Devils in the eighth round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Wild have a very young team and if they can keep the young guns they will be a force soon.
