Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders Wednesday signed right wing Jim Campbell, a 1996-97 Calder Trophy finalist, which represents
the NHL's Rookie of the Year. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Campbell's standout rookie year came with the St. Louis Blues, posting 23 goals, 20 assists and 43 points in 68 games. Since that season, however,
Campbell has had an inconsistent professional career.
The 31-year-old remained with St. Louis for three more years, before returning to the team that drafted him -- the Montreal Canadiens. He has also
spent time with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers, as well as several American Hockey League organizations.
During the 2003-04 season, Campbell split time between Russia and the AHL's Chicago Wolves. With the Wolves, Campbell recorded 10 goals and 13
