San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks re-signed Group II restricted free-agent defenseman Scott Hannan Sunday.
Known more for his defensive presence, Hannan scored a career-high six goals in 82 games last season. In the playoffs, Hannan led the team in ice time
(26:38) and plus/minus (+7).
"[Scott] is a crucial part of this team and we want to take care of those players who get it done when it counts the most," said Sharks GM Doug
Wilson.
The 25-year-old blueliner was recently named to Team Canada's World Cup team as an injury replacement for Colorado's Rob Blake.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Hannan was drafted by the Sharks in the first round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
