Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers Wednesday re-signed defenseman Eric Brewer to a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration.
A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Brewer turned pro in 1998-99 and spent the first two years of his NHL career with the New York Islanders. He was
then traded to Edmonton on June 24, 2000 and has played the last four seasons with the Oilers.
During the 2003-04 campaign, Brewer tallied seven goals and 18 assists in 77 games. For his career, he has recorded 34 goals and 79 assists in 404
Meanwhile, the Oilers also agreed to terms on a two-year deal with defenseman Alexei Semenov with a club option for a third season.
Semenov collected two goals and three assists in 46 games for Edmonton last season. He has played in 92 contests for the Oilers since joining the team
midway through the 2002-03 campaign.
