Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Defenseman Braydon Coburn has signed with the Atlanta Thrashers, a year after the team chose him with the No. 8 overall
pick in the NHL draft. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Braydon is a high character individual who has proven that he is ready for the opportunity to compete at the NHL level," said Thrashers general
manager Don Waddell. "His continued development will help strengthen our vastly improved core of defensemen."
Coburn was a member of the 2003 Western Hockey League Western Conference All- Star team with Portland. He registered 10 goals and 20 assists while
skating in 55 games.
The Calgary, Alberta native served as a captain for the Canadian team that won the gold medal at the 2003 World Under-18 Championships in Russia.
