Albany, NY (Sports Network)- The New York Giants claimed defensive tackle Willie Blade, who was waived by Dallas earlier in the week, and released
tight end Darnell Dinkins on Wednesday.
Blade started 14 of 15 games for the Cowboys last season, collecting 11 tackles and one sack. He is expected to compete for a backup job against Lance
Legree and William Joseph and free agent additions Martin Chase, Norman Hand and Fred Robbins.
Dinkins played the last two campaigns with the Giants, spending 10 weeks on the practice squad before participating in the last seven games. He had
two receptions for 16 yards.
In other moves, New York signed Radell Lockhard, who spent the entire 2003 season on the practice squad, and waived tackle Mathias Nkwenti, who played
in just two games for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the last three seasons.
