Williams, a two-time titlist in this event, topped eighth-seeded Zvonareva, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, and will face No. 4 Elena Dementieva in Saturday's
semifinals. Dementieva topped fifth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Serena's sister, second-seeded Venus Williams, straight-setted Francesca Schiavone, the 11th seed, 7-5, 6-1.
Venus' foe Saturday will be third-seeded Lindsay Davenport, who dropped just two games en route to eliminating seventh-seeded Nadia Petrova, 6-1, 6-1.
