JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Defensive tackle Anthony Maddox, who quit football for three years after several run-ins with the law, signed Thursday with
the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 25-year-old Maddox, a fourth-round pick, spent the past two seasons at Delta State after a two-year stint at Jones County (Miss.) Junior College.
The 6-foot-1, 295-pound nose tackle had 10 sacks in two years at Delta State and was chosen last season as the Gulf South Conference's top defensive
Originally slated to attend Florida State, Maddox was arrested twice while at school in Mississippi. He quit football soon after, going to work at a
furniture store and leaving the game for three years.
