(AP News) - FIFA today banned Farah W. Addo, former president of the Somali Football Federation, from the game for 10 years for embezzling federation
funds.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which met here on Tuesday, banned Addo from taking part in any soccer-related activity within an association, a
confederation or FIFA with immediate effect.
Addo was found guilty of misappropriating money allocated to the SFF by FIFA's Financial Assistance Program and of using some of it for his own
interests.
Addo must also pay a fine of 50,000 Swiss francs ($56,000) as well as cover the costs of the proceedings, another SF50,000.
The committee also told the SFF to take all necessary steps to recover the money misused by Addo and to guarantee that the management of the
federation's financial assets will, in future, correspond with FIFA regulations.
"It is not the first time that Addo has been banned from his soccer activities," said FIFA spokesman Alain Leblanc. "He was also banned for two years
previously for certain things he said."
